Project Description

The Yemen Malnutrition Relief Project is an urgent humanitarian initiative designed to save the lives of children, women, and the most vulnerable groups facing the threat of hunger. Yemen is now experiencing the third-largest food crisis in the world, with UN reports indicating that more than 18.1 million people suffer from acute food insecurity, including 41,000 at risk of famine.
Nearly half of Yemeni children under the age of five are suffering from severe malnutrition and stunted growth, while one in four pregnant and breastfeeding women face wasting. With the 2025 Humanitarian Response Plan funded at only 15%, the crisis is worsening daily, forcing millions of families to adopt desperate coping mechanisms such as skipping meals, giving up medical treatment, or selling vital assets just to survive.

The importance of the project

The project focuses on:
Providing therapeutic food for children with severe acute malnutrition.
Supporting pregnant and breastfeeding women with nutrition and healthcare.
Delivering emergency food assistance to the most vulnerable families.
Raising health and nutrition awareness to reduce stunting and wasting rates.
This project is not only about short-term hunger relief, but also about creating sustainable solutions to strengthen food security and protect the future of Yemen’s children and women, in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger by 2030.
