Namaa Charity distributed food baskets and halal income projects to needy families in Cambodia.
Namaa Charity, part of the Social Reform Society, has begun implementing several relief projects in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The charity distributed food baskets to the most needy families, benefiting more than 1,000 beneficiaries. It also distributed halal-earning projects, including fishing boats and tuk-tuks.
In this regard, Khaled Mubarak Al Shamri, Director of the Relief Department at Namaa Charity, said: "These projects fall within the framework of Namaa Charity's strategy to combat poverty and sustainably support the capabilities of individuals and communities in the countries targeted by Namaa Charity. The goal is to contribute to the development of the beneficiaries' capabilities and provide them with employment opportunities in various fields. A special focus has been placed on orphan families."
Al Shamri added that Namaa Charity attaches utmost importance to economic empowerment projects due to their significant benefits and rewarding outcomes for individuals and communities. In this regard, it considers the type of projects appropriate to the specificities of the country, regions, and target groups. He explained that Namaa Charity allocates a large portion of these projects to benefit orphans and their families, and that these projects have had a positive impact on their lives and fulfilled their dreams of providing a decent livelihood.
Al Shamri explained that the goal of these projects is to enable needy families to sustain their income and achieve a decent living. He emphasized that Namaa Charity, through its halal-earning projects, seeks to achieve the first goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, namely the eradication of poverty.
Separately, Al Shamri said that Namaa Charity has distributed more than 250 food baskets to needy families, noting that the implementation of this project is Namaa Charity's contribution to bridging the existing food shortage gap there.
