Namaa Charity Implements Food Basket Project in Somalia to Support the Most Needy Families
As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of affected populations, Namaa Charity, affiliated with the Social Reform Society, implemented a food basket distribution project in the Republic of Somalia. Approximately 1,500 beneficiaries from the most vulnerable families benefited from the project, which addressed the dire humanitarian situation in the country resulting from recurring droughts, high poverty rates, and food insecurity.
Large areas of Somalia are facing complex humanitarian challenges, with families struggling with a scarcity of basic resources and difficulty accessing food and water. This has led to increased rates of malnutrition, particularly among children and women, exacerbated by weak infrastructure and ongoing climate and economic crises.
In this context, Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Deputy CEO of Namaa Charity, affirmed that the food basket distribution project in Somalia is part of an urgent humanitarian response to the harsh living conditions faced by families there. He emphasized that Namaa Charity is committed to reaching the most vulnerable groups in affected areas. Al-Kandari explained that the project contributed to providing basic food needs for a large number of families, helping to alleviate hunger and improve the living conditions of beneficiaries, especially given the significant rise in food prices and the difficulty in securing them.
He added that the humanitarian situation in Somalia requires concerted international and relief efforts, as thousands of families live in extremely difficult conditions and rely heavily on humanitarian aid to meet their daily needs.
He noted that Namaa Charity continues to implement its relief and development projects in several African countries, stemming from its humanitarian mission to support affected communities and enhance their stability. He emphasized that these efforts would not have been possible, after God's grace, without the support of generous donors.
Al-Kandari concluded his statement by thanking the generous people of Kuwait, who embody the highest ideals of solidarity and giving, and called for continued support for humanitarian projects that contribute to saving thousands of lives and alleviating their suffering.
Namaa Charity continues to support Gaza residents by distributing food baskets, benefiting 1,000 people.
