Kuwait's Namaa Charity Implements Urgent Water Distribution Campaign in Gaza Strip
Namaa Charity, affiliated with the Social Reform Society, announced on Monday, in coordination with partner organizations accredited by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the implementation of an urgent water distribution campaign to affected families in the Gaza Strip amid the worsening water crisis.
During the campaign, 230 water trucks, each with a capacity of 1,000 liters, were distributed, benefiting more than 2,760 people from families suffering from severe shortages of potable water due to the widespread destruction of infrastructure, desalination plants, and supply networks. This has created a crisis that threatens the lives of more than two million people.
Namaa Charity's Deputy CEO, Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, said: "The daily figures and scenes demonstrate the severity of the destruction to the water infrastructure, which has caused the shutdown of desalination plants and the near-paralysis of water and sewage networks. This has left thousands of families dependent on unsafe and unclean sources, with quantities insufficient to meet their minimum daily needs." Al-Kandari added that the water crisis is not limited to thirst alone, but extends to serious health risks that threaten children, women, and the elderly, such as the spread of various diseases due to the lack of clean water. He emphasized that every water truck we provide is a precaution against a catastrophic health crisis and a step toward human stability in an environment exhausted by the blockade and aggression.
He emphasized that this campaign is not merely a passing humanitarian initiative, but rather a lifeline that connects need with human dignity. He added, "We implemented this project to ensure the provision of water to families in Gaza, as it is not a luxury, but rather the first right to survival and the most basic necessities of life."
He stated that the field team faced significant challenges in delivering water, including a fragile security situation, destroyed roads, fuel shortages, and complex logistical restrictions. Nevertheless, we faced all of this with steadfastness and determination to reach our people in Gaza without delay. Al-Kandari expressed his appreciation for the generous support of the Kuwaiti political leadership, saying, "The generous care and continuous support we are witnessing from the Kuwaiti political leadership is the best evidence that Kuwaiti charitable work is proceeding under a leadership that believes in its humanitarian and pioneering role on the Arab and international arenas."
He praised the important national role of Kuwaiti state institutions, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which facilitated the passage of aid and coordinated efforts with authorized entities inside Gaza, contributing to the rapid and efficient delivery of aid.
He also highlighted the importance of field coordination with partners inside the Gaza Strip, considering this cooperation to be a successful model of integration between national and international efforts to ensure the fair and transparent distribution of aid and its access to those most in need.
Al-Kandari thanked everyone who contributed to the success of this project and all the charitable donors, emphasizing that Namaa Charity will remain at the forefront of humanitarian work, because Gaza's suffering will not end except through concerted efforts and continued support.
