Namaa Charity begins the first phase... for the sake of Gaza
Namaa Charity, affiliated with the Social Reform Society, announced yesterday, Sunday, the implementation of the first phase of its "For Gaza" relief project. This phase aims to provide safe shelter for displaced families in the northern Gaza Strip by erecting more than 100 fully equipped tents, in cooperation with local organizations accredited by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Saad Al-Otaibi, CEO of Namaa, stated that "the shelter project is an urgent response to the growing humanitarian appeals for help in Gaza, where hundreds of thousands of families are living without shelter after their homes were destroyed – a situation that reflects one of the greatest humanitarian disasters of the modern era." Al-Otaibi added that “United Nations reports, particularly those issued by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), confirm that more than 1.9 million people, or about 85 percent of Gaza’s population, have been forcibly displaced from their homes, and that more than half of them are sleeping in the open or in makeshift tents that offer no protection from the heat of the day or the cold of the night.” He also pointed out that “other data shows that more than 60 percent of housing facilities have been completely destroyed or damaged since the start of the war, making the provision of shelter one of the most urgent needs.”
He emphasized that “Namaa,” based on its humanitarian and development mission, ensured that the project was implemented according to the highest relief standards, through effective partnerships with local institutions accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to guarantee that aid reaches those who deserve it transparently and fairly, and to achieve maximum impact on the ground in the affected areas.
