Namaa Launches Project to Drill 10 Wells in Tanzania
As part of its humanitarian commitment and ongoing support for the most vulnerable communities, Namaa Charity, affiliated with the Social Reform Society, announced the implementation of a project to drill 10 water wells in the Bute District of the Mkurunga Region in the United Republic of Tanzania. This initiative is part of its efforts to enhance water security and achieve sustainable development in resource-scarce areas.
The Head of Communications, Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim, emphasized that the project aligns with the sixth Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations, which stipulates ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation services for all. He stressed that providing clean water is not merely a service, but a fundamental aspect of life and human dignity.
Mr. Al-Ibrahim explained that water is the lifeblood of society, the key to health, education, and social stability. He asserted that genuine development is impossible amidst the daily struggle to obtain a safe water source, particularly in rural areas where families travel long distances under the scorching sun in search of water that may not even be potable. He explained that the Bute district in the Mkuranga region suffers from severe water challenges, with many residents relying on traditional and open water sources, exposing them to health risks and waterborne diseases. This negatively impacts children and women, who bear the brunt of the daily water-collecting task.
He noted that the project will serve hundreds of families, alleviate their suffering, improve public health, and give children more opportunities to attend school instead of wasting hours searching for water. He emphasized that every well drilled is a turning point in the lives of an entire community.
Al-Ibrahim added, "At Namaa Charity, we believe that development begins with the basics, and water is paramount. When we provide a sustainable and safe water source, we give the community an opportunity to grow and open new horizons for a dignified life, work, and productivity."
He affirmed that this project embodies Kuwait's humanitarian message that extends across continents and reflects the spirit of giving inherent in Kuwaiti society, which has made supporting water issues around the world a humanitarian priority, based on the understanding that a single drop of water can mean the price of life. He concluded his statement by saying: “We feel our responsibility towards the most needy communities, and we work in a spirit of partnership with benefactors and supporters, to turn the suffering of thirst into a story of hope, and to make every well we dig a witness that when good is directed sincerely, it creates an inexhaustible impact.”
